Description

Urban Ascend is an incremental city-building game focused on automation, scaling systems, and long-term optimization. Players start with a small settlement and gradually grow it into a dense, self-sustaining city by placing buildings, unlocking upgrades, and managing interconnected requirements.

A Word from the Developer

“Urban Ascend came from my interest in incremental games that are about systems rather than spectacle. I wanted to build a city builder where growth is driven by numbers, dependencies, and automation, and where the satisfaction comes from watching systems compound and stabilize over time.”

Gameplay Overview

The player begins with a limited set of buildings and resources. As the city grows, new structures unlock automatically based on population, production, and infrastructure. Buildings generate resources, satisfy requirements, and unlock further upgrades through research and expansion. Progression is continuous and persistent, with the city operating largely on its own as players focus on optimization rather than manual control.

Key Features

Incremental City Growth
Expand a city over time through automated buildings and passive resource generation rather than direct control of individual citizens.

Building and Upgrade Systems
Construct and upgrade a large roster of buildings, each contributing to production, population, or city requirements.

Research and Unlocks
Unlock new buildings, bonuses, and mechanics through research that responds to the size and complexity of the city.

Requirement Management
Balance city-wide needs such as power, water, safety, and infrastructure to maintain growth and unlock higher tiers.

Incidents and Modifiers
Respond to random events and conditions that temporarily disrupt or enhance city performance.

Optimization Focus
Progress is driven by efficiency, scaling, and long-term planning rather than micromanagement.

Availability

Please Don’t Shoot the Humans is currently in development and scheduled for release in 2026. A playable demo is available on Steam.
